San Antonio Roofing Contractor Brent Hannah, President of Rhino Tuff Roofing, tells you how to check for a leaky roof.
The hot dry months of summer are over. Is your roof in an good condition to protect your home from the coming rain? Or have the recent downpours already caused issues?
Water damage to your house brought forth from leaky roofs can be a real money drain. In order to prevent needless headaches and undue stress, look for these signs to see if your roof may be leaking water:
- You are first going to want to turn your attention to the ceiling. Are there signs of dripping water? Is the ceiling wet? This is obviously the biggest clue to you that your roof may need repair, but even if you see these signs understand that your roof may not be at fault. Water spots on your ceiling could be due to other issues, such as plumbing or air ventilation problems.
- Moisture around skylights and chimneys may be a sign of roof problems. Damage where roof planes intersect often exhibit these signs.
- See if there are deposits of granules from shingles in or near your gutters. Natural wear on your roof will cause decomposition over time, often causing pieces to tear apart and get washed away into your gutters or downspouts.
If you feel confident that your roof is needing repair, or if you want a professional to inspect your roof for you, be sure to contact us at 877-2AW-HAIL. The weather won’t be getting any better for a while, so why risk the chance of unneeded damage?
