Leon Valley Roofer Bret Hannah, president of Rhino Tuff Roofing, has seen a lot of storm damage in his more than 30 year career as a roofing and general contractor.
While the storms have been the same the loss of life has dramatically declined. In the last 20-30 years the amount of weather technology that has been deployed across the tornado belt has increased significantly. The new technologies make it possible to better predict the path of storms that are on the ground, as well as being able to better predict where the storms will form. Both have contributed to saving lives.
Last week an F-0 tornado formed in north Fort Worth as a thunderstorm traveled through the area. Just one week later a new CASA radar system is being installed as part of a regional effort to improve sever storm forecasting.
